The Dreaded Hump

Sawyer has invented something to be afraid of.  He calls this monster "The Hump."  Said monster spends a lot of time menacing Sawyer from outside his window.  Mysteriously, he shows up whenever the furnace kicks on. Mom and Dad have told Sawyer the hum is just the furnace warming our house.  Without it we would be very cold...  As it turns out, with it, we are sleepy.

Veda 10 Months

She is officially on the move.  She should have some incredible upper body strength judging by her method of movement.  She pulls her self across the floor with her arms and lands with a thud with each push.  It is pretty adorable.  :)

Laughing at her brother when he splashes in the tub.
Gerber puffs
Spinning in circles on her tummy.
Jumping
The floppy ears on her doggy.
Grabbing everything in reach.
Showing off her two teeth.

Reading books at bedtime.

Wiggling along to the music.

Dislikes:

Having to entertain herself while mommy and daddy get ready for work in the morning.
Being set down on the floor while mommy makes dinner.
Finding that she has scooted herself into a corner.
     Notice a theme?

Veda J 8 Months

Christmas 2010

We are overwhelmed with spoilage at the Smith house.  By the time we got home from Steve's parents and my parents, Sawyer was no longer interested in opening presents... until we started opening presents.  :)

A very popular gift is the IPAD that Steve surprised me with.  Sawyer and I have been showing off the cool apps all over the place.  I even had to have a talk with one of my students at school who shouted "I call the IPAD!"  "The Monster at the End of this Book" clearly gets the most play, at least once a day at bedtime.  Hopefully Sawyer won't lose all interest in real books...

Veda is 7 Months Old!

...and big enough to sit up and play blocks with the boys!

...and big enough to eat sweet potatoes and even try to feed/gag herself...

Timeout!

Watch out, that nutcracker ornament is an ornery one.  Sawyer has put him in timeout many times now for biting.  In fact, the other day, three of those pesky things were in time-out together.  Ask Sawyer and he will tell you that they we are crying because they "wanted" him.  I asked him what was going to happen when they got out of timeout and he informed me that they were going to bite again...  Sounds like the timeout isn't doing the trick!  :)
