Early Summery Fun!

A Year and a Month Later...

Sawyer is keeping us busier than ever! It blows my mind that only one year ago he was an immobile little bundle who never emptied my cupboards, tried to pull down the gate, or bumped his head. Here I am today with Cheerios covering my kitchen floor, and a baby covered in bruises and potential tooth damage... I hope I never forget to count my blessings. Sawyer came home from daycare 4 times in 3 weeks with big bruises on his head and one day he nearly bit through his lip. Steve had to take him to the dentist one day because he fell at home and jammed his teeth pretty good. Then he took him to the doctor two days later because he nearly bit through his lip! I really don't want to wish anything away when it comes to watching Sawyer grow up, but I hope he comes out of this clumsy stage soon! After the bruises at daycare from falling, Steve talked to the staff about making the place more toddler friendly. They have not made changes so we are looking for new daycare come Fall. Let me know if you hear of any good options!




Poor kiddo had the worst diaper rash ever! Needless to say, he spent a lot of time soaking and airing out. It made for a messy weekend...

Sawyer and Sydney are so fun to watch play together. They make the game of peek-a-boo hilarious! It will be such fun to watch these two grow up together.

Happy Birthday Sawyer and Leila!

I took the day off to spend with the birthday boy. Tricia, Leila, Thea, Cassie, Sawyer and I had so much fun at the Children's Museum. I cannot wait to take him back again! It turned out to be just a perfect day all around.












Sawyer had so much fun in the grocery store I didn't think I would be able to convince him to move on! He finally did but with a little resistance. He actually walked over to the cart that was pulled out for him and pushed that baby in circle after circle through the grocery store.











I wish you all could have seen the puppet show Tricia and Leila put on. It was so entertaining Cassie and I were in tears with laughter.

Tricia: (The Giraffe) "What about you little boy? Is it your birthday? How old are you?"
Leila: (The Zebra) "Are you 1?" :pause: "Or maybe 2?"

The day before the big 1 year...

All day today I caught myself reflecting on this day one year ago. I can't stop doing that actually. "One year ago I was getting ready for my last doctor appointment before baby." "One year ago I was having the last nice dinner out with my husband before parenthood." "One year ago I was still wondering if it would be a boy or a girl." Tomorrow will be the same I am sure. Filled with wonder and memories...



I am using a personal day to spend the day playing with the birthday kiddos! We are going to the mall to have lunch and play at the children's museum. I really can't wait. More to come...

Birthday Bash!

Ah...a peaceful Saturday morning, checking out the view...He had no idea the house would fill with family friends, presents and cake only a few hours later!

Hunt eggs? Hmmm...It's kinda cold for that, don't you think? Besides, I am sure Leila will share with me!

We Have an 11 Month Old!

...and he is awesome! We are having so much fun right now. Sawyer's personality has started to really blossom. He teases us by offering us food and toys and quickly snatching them away with a devilish grin on his face. Still not a walker yet, although I think maybe we are getting close to a point where we could trick him into it. He stands on his own all of the time and practices his squats. This is also a time when I am comfortable letting him try all kinds of foods. I'll let Steve tell you about the jalapeno hummus... We took him to Dairy Queen to share some ice cream with us and he showed a definite preference for the Snickers over the Oreo Blizzard. Exposure to peanuts number 1...check.

You know what kiddos? We need a break... can you both fit in this stroller?
Don't worry, this didn't last long...
